The Strong Word June 2012

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 is one of those chapters that can be read on almost any occasion, a baby dedication, a wedding, a funeral as well as a range of other occasions too.

It is a chapter that reminds us in quite a lot of detail that for everything there is a time and a season. Examples include a time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up searching, a time to keep and a time to throw away, this is to highlight just a few of the verses.

The writer of the Book of Ecclesiastes is a wise old bird. He puts the world in which we live into an eternal context. He reminds us of the importance of our lives and our days but all within the context of eternity, so we are not as important as we think, but still important to God. His book is a balancing act of truth and reality.

We come on Wednesday 13th June to an important Church Meeting. A time when we shall discuss and vote on a recommendation for the future of the Church. Please pray for the meeting in the next couple of weeks, maybe read the chapter I have mentioned above. Then we gather to discuss and consider what we believe The Lord is saying to us at this time. Is this a time to tear down or to build? Is it a time to tear or to mend? Is it a time to mourn or to dance? If you have ideas, then I believe the Lord is speaking to you, we must share these thoughts at the meeting so we can have a consensus. (If you cannot be there a letter to Derek to be read out may be your way of contributing to the discussion.)

We have had a lot of time to consider, pray and collect information. We are moving into the time for action, when whatever we decide is acted on promptly by us all, in the next months and years.

May the Lord Bless us as we prayerfully consider these weighty issues, and together make plans for the future of Carey.
