The Strong Word – February 2014

A happy and peaceful new year to all our readers, even though it is probably February as you read this. Having no magazine in January makes such greeting difficult any earlier than this!

We look forward to all that the New Year will bring, I often think that the first two months do not reflect the year, we just have to get through them before things begin to happen, and the year feels properly new! This year will be the same no doubt. But we do have a busy calendar for the church, with regular events and extra social events plus the ongoing and increasing activity with the building project, which will no doubt change and grow as the year moves on.

Please continue to support with your presence, and pray for what we as a church are doing, both in the building and the community, with the ordinary and extra ordinary activities.

My favourite New Year thoughts centre around Joshua chapter 1 when The Lord tells Joshua, as I believe he tells us, at the start of a new chapter in our lives:- “Be strong be courageous do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua is encouraged to be someone who reads God’s word, thinks about it and then does what he believes it says to him. This is the recipe that the Lord gives for success.

It is the recipe for success in our lives too in 2014. It is almost too simple isn’t it? Obey what God says! Naaman in 2 Kings 5 was not keen to do as he was told by the Lord. Wash in the Jordan – 7 times! But eventually he did and things worked well for him.

Will you commit yourselves to seek out the Lord’s voice in 2014, to consider it, and then to do it? It is, I believe, the key to a “successful” year – whatever that means for you!

May the Lord bless us in his work in 2014.
