The Strong Word – June 2015

In the days of Ezekiel the prophet, it was foreseen in this way:- I will put my Spirit in you and you will live….. then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it declares the Lord” (Ezekiel 37.v13-14).

Up until Pentecost, the spirit of God came upon certain individuals, usually only for a particular task, the spirit was often removed when the task was over. We see people like Samson, able to do incredible superhuman things, but like “the Incredible Hulk” from the TV series, was left afterwards as a normal human being.

But from that day of Pentecost it is different. It was the day the prophet Joel predicted. Acts chapter 2 records:- “ there was a sound from heaven like a rushing mighty wind,……. everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other languages as the spirit enabled them…”

Those disciples were the first to experience this power of God in their lives and we do today, have access to the power and presence of God. We have the ability to know right from wrong, to know God’s heart, and under his direction to make a difference in the world in which we live.

What a day, what a celebration, what a future we have as God’s partner on earth, so different to how men and women related to God before Pentecost. It means we are reborn by the spirit as Jesus explains to Nicodemus in John 3, and that we carry God in our hearts and lives. Now that is something to celebrate! Many looked forward to such a day but now we live in such times. Praise the Lord!
